Who operates the service

Where Should I Learn is the service’s registered legal name. The operator is based in Richmond, Virginia, United States.

Information you provide

If you create an account, Clerk handles sign-in and authentication. WhereShouldILearn may receive an account identifier and, when needed for support or feedback, the email address associated with the account.

If you save schools while signed in, the app stores your saved-school and comparison selections on its server so they can be synchronized to your account. You can also save or remove individual schools in the app.

The onboarding draft and decision tools—including Student Fit, Family Plan, Course Kit, and Learner Brief—save the answers and notes you enter in your browser’s local storage. Those tool entries are not uploaded by those tools. If you include personal information in a feedback report or screenshot, it will be handled as feedback data.

Feedback and technical information

When you submit beta feedback, the report may include your description, expected behavior, severity, the page URL, browser user-agent, and viewport dimensions. Signed-in reports can include your Clerk account identifier and email. Public reports can include a reply-to email if you provide one.

For public feedback abuse prevention, the app stores a hash of the request IP address. The hosting provider may also receive routine request and diagnostic information needed to deliver and protect the service.

You may attach a screenshot to feedback. Screenshot file metadata is stored with the report. When an email alert is configured and sent, the screenshot is attached to that email and is not stored as an image in the feedback record.

Browser storage and cookies

The site uses browser local storage for saved selections, onboarding drafts, and decision-tool entries. This information remains in the browser profile until you clear it or remove it through the relevant tool. Saved-school selections are synchronized to the service only when you are signed in.

Clerk may use cookies or similar technologies needed for authentication and session security. You can manage browser storage and cookies in your browser settings; blocking them may prevent sign-in or local saving from working.

How information is used

• To provide the directory, account sign-in, saved-school synchronization, and browser-based decision tools.
• To review and respond to feedback, troubleshoot errors, and protect the service from abuse.
• To maintain service security, comply with law, and establish or defend legal claims.

Service providers and sharing

We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. We share information with service providers only as needed to operate the service, and when required by law or to protect rights and safety.

Replit provides app hosting, server infrastructure, and the service database. Clerk provides account authentication. Google Mail is used to send operator notifications for feedback reports; those emails can include the report text, contact details provided with the report, browser context, and an attached screenshot. Google Fonts provides some site typography. The TAAFT badge may load an image from There’s An AI For That. When your browser requests third-party fonts or badge images, those providers may receive connection information such as your IP address and browser details under their own policies.

Retention and deletion requests

Local browser data remains until you clear it or remove it in the relevant tool. Cloud-synced saved-school selections and feedback reports are kept for service operation, support, security, and legal needs. Feedback screenshots are sent by email when a notification is sent; copies may remain in the operator’s mailbox.

The app does not currently provide a self-service account-deletion control. To ask for access, correction, or deletion of account or feedback information, email the contact below. We will review and respond to requests under applicable law.

Your choices and privacy rights

You may clear browser-local entries through your browser settings or the controls in a tool. You may remove saved schools in the app. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, or limit certain personal information. Contact us to make a request.

Children

The service is intended for people who are at least 13 years old and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information, contact us so we can review the request and take appropriate action.

Security

We use service providers and safeguards intended to protect information, but no internet service or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Avoid including sensitive information in feedback or screenshots.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service or its data practices change. The date at the top shows when it was most recently updated. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
